A Chairde Gaeil,
After a very busy day on the club front everyone deserves a break tonight before training tomorrow and the first day of Seachtain na Gaeilge (2 weeks of Irish language events)
A big thanks everyone who took part, volunteered, participated and helped out in both events today.
Firstly a word on our 20+ coaches, parents, players and teachers that gave up their Saturday to complete the foundation level coaching course. We had two excellent facilitators in Paul Doherty and Dominic (Woody) McKinley who provided a wealth of experience and advice.
Everyone learned something new and useful and can use the network to share and seek answers to any questions if necessary. Level 1 beckons folks!

Secondly the Tesco Fundraiser (no word on the amount just yet), a big word of thanks to everyone who helped, packed bags, and generally took part. This is a big step for the club and was very well received (we plan to do it again).
A special mention to Claire Curran and Kate McGivern who were the main points of contact on the day.
Also a special mention to Brian from Tesco, who ensured that we were well looked after and could not have been more accommodating. Maith thú a chara!

Don’t forget The Club Celebration Dinner is next Friday in Corrs Corner, tickets are still available from behind the bar in the clubhouse.

Antrim Health and Wellbeing Conference 21st February 2015 @ Dunsilly Hotel

A Chara,
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you, in your position as officers of your club to the first county health and Wellbeing conference on Saturday 21st February in Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim commencing at 9.30 am.

The GAA is breaking new ground as a sporting organisation by seeking to engage our members and communities in which they live in issues including mental health awareness, suicide prevention, addiction, road safety and many more of everyday life challenges. This conference will seek to give participants a brief introduction into a few of these issues by giving examples of the good work that we are already engaging in throughout the county and will also provide an opportunity for club health and wellbeing officers to get the nationally approved training on the day. This will serve as an example of good working practices which can be used in the club maith application process.

I feel it is important to point out at this early stage that our job as volunteers within the GAA is not to become a counselling service, but to signpost our members to the wide range of services that we are working in partnership with across the voluntary, community and statutory sectors in the county. The conference will give participants an indication of the diversity of these organisations and a method of contacting them and engaging with their services.

The overall purpose of the conference is to meet the following objectives:
1. To introduce you to the issue of health and Wellbeing and its role within the GAA structures within the county.
2. To provide you with information that will be of benefit to your club in understanding the nature of the work that is ongoing at county, provincial and national level in the promotion of health and wellbeing for all of our members.
3. To provide you with information about the role of the health and wellbeing officer and how that role can benefit the club.

It is vital that your club is well represented at this conference, and I would encourage all senior officers of your club, as well as your health and Wellbeing officer to be in attendance.

The conference has the full support of myself as county Chairman, and I will be maintaining a close working relationship with the county health and Wellbeing committee and the dedicated club health and wellbeing officers to ensure that we are able to assist our membership in dealing with these challenging issues,

I look forward to seeing you at the conference on 21st February at the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim.
Is Mise le meas,
Jim Murray

This year’s senior awards dinner will be held in Corrs Corner Hotel on Friday 6th March 2015.
Our senior squads all had a very successful year last year and so it would be great to see a big turnout from all our adult members, friends and family to recognise their achievements.
As well as a good night’s Craic It is a great opportunity for us a club to come together and showcase Naomh Éanna CLG as a strong vibrant and growing club so buy early and buy often.

Tickets are £25 and are available from any member of the Executive Committee, the senior management teams and from behind the bar.
If you have any special dietary requirements contact Joanne 07860771545.

On the 28th February 2015 - Naomh Éanna will be carrying out a bag pack in Tesco at the Abbey Centre.
This is a great opportunity for the club to raise much needed funds.
There is a volunteer rota and time slots will be allocated to groups on the day, you will have an opportunity add your name on the form on the notice board in the club house.

If you want to help out but don't know what to do, now here is your chance!
The contacts for the days will be:

Michaela Mackin - oakbridgedesign@gmail.com
Claire Curran - claireorlaigh1@gmail.com

We will need as much help as possible to ensure that all tills are manned.

We need as much help as possible to ensure that all tills are manned.

The cyclists started their training last saturday 07/02/2015 and not the 07/03/2015 as per the previous post.
There was a good turn out of 12 on what turned out to be a lovely morning
Distances ranged from 25 mile up to 45 mile on the day.
They are out tomorrow again and as always the distances and speed can be adjusted to suit the cyclists ability.
If you are interested in going out with them on a Saturday (9.30) or Sunday (10.30) just be at the First Trust Bank bottom of the Hightown Road 10 minutes before the starting time.
A great way off getting fit and the craic is brilliant.
